DINNER IS SERVED, AMERICA: SAUSAGE TSUNAMI SWEEPS THE STATES

From a nationwide campaign blitz and Rob Riggle's stump speech to free dinners, easy meal solutions and hunger relief, the Johnsonville-backed candidate delivers on its promise

SHEBOYGAN FALLS, Wis., Nov. 4, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- With plenty of big decisions on Michiganders' minds come Election Day, deciding what's for dinner shouldn't be one of them. After weeks on the campaign trail, Sausage delivered on its promise, treating Grand Rapids to nearly 2,000 free dinners on the eve of Election Day in one of the nation's most politically overserved cities.

The November 2 event brought Sausage for Dinner 2026 full circle in the city where it all began. Residents enjoyed free, ready-to-eat pasta dishes, sandwiches and hearty bowls, along with recipes and product vouchers to simplify future meals. But Sausage didn't stop there.

"Sausage has been campaigning hard to earn a spot on America's dinner tables," said Jamie Schmelzer, Vice President of Marketing at Johnsonville. "And while election day 2026 is officially behind us, we have no intention of slowing down when it comes to driving our candidate's agenda of affordable protein for the people and prep times we can all believe in."

Johnsonville launched Sausage for Dinner 2026 on September 8 amid unprecedented midterm political ad spending. With a platform built on flavor, versatility and affordability, the campaign tapped into growing election fatigue, fueled by Johnsonville and Harris Poll research revealing that 66% of Americans expected the midterms to make politics and news even more overwhelming, while 53% said they hate deciding what to make for dinner every night.

Armed with those insights, Sausage hit the campaign trail with a national advertising and media blitz, complete with a 30-second TV spot, billboards, yard signs, merchandise and easy dinner recipes targeting some of the country's most politically overserved cities.

As the race heated up, actor and comedian Rob Riggle joined the ticket as Johnsonville's official Special Sausage Envoy, delivering a stirring stump speech, rallying Americans around a universal platform of less stress, more sausage.

"When Johnsonville asked me to serve as Special Sausage Envoy, I didn't need much convincing," said Rob Riggle. "We're having some fun with all the election-season madness, but the mission is serious business: making dinner easier and a whole lot more delicious. If bringing people together over a good meal is my legacy, I'll consider my term a sizzling success."

While traditional candidates ask for donations to fund more campaign ads, Sausage encouraged supporters to put their dollars toward fighting hunger instead. Through a partnership with Hunger Free America, Johnsonville pledged $100,000 to help combat food insecurity and invited Americans to contribute to the cause.

Election season may be over, but the nightly dinner dilemma isn't. Johnsonville's message remains the same: with delicious, versatile and affordable sausage, one of the day's biggest decisions is an easy one.
