Texas community bank reaches $550,000 toward local relief, including large match gift

FREDERICKSBURG, Texas, Sept. 15, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- A community bank founded in 1941 in Fredericksburg, Texas, Security State Bank & Trust is pleased to announce that the organization has reached its $250,000 match amount to support residents affected by historic and catastrophic floods on July 4, 2025.

In total, the bank and its employees, customers, vendors, friends and community near and far helped to raise $550,000 in two months. Not long after the flood, Security State Bank & Trust – which has 18 branches in Texas, with most of those in the hill country area and three locations directly affected – set out to help by promising that the bank would match every dollar raised up to a quarter of a million dollars.

As part of this total, Texas First Bank – a community bank with 26 locations serving Houston and the Texas Gulf Coast – announced a $120,000 gift, matched by Security State Bank & Trust in August.

Security State Bank & Trust bank leadership, customers, vendors and community partners have worked diligently to raise funds in addition to working on the ground with professional and volunteer first responders since the July incident. Donated funds supported the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund stewarded by the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, which is a public charitable foundation that has supported nonprofits and local causes in the region since 1982.

"Seeing the devastation each day affects all of us," said Dan Kemp, chairman, CEO & president. "Knowing that we are doing things to help our community and our customers has given us all purpose during this time. However, by encouraging others in Texas and beyond to donate to this fund, we knew a longer-lasting impact could be made. We're proud and grateful to be able to make this significant dollar match, and we encourage others to keep giving generously to restore a part of Texas we all dearly love."
