Amy Salanty, MSN, RN, PMHNP-BC, is an accomplished psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and owner of Purple Elephant Psychiatry & Wellness, bringing 27 years of nursing experience in critical care, trauma, and behavioral health. Throughout her career, she has remained dedicated to providing compassionate, individualized care while addressing the connection between physical and mental health.

Through Purple Elephant Psychiatry & Wellness, Ms. Salanty provides telehealth psychiatric services to patients ages six and older, with particular emphasis on geriatric care, ADHD, depression, and medication management. Her approach incorporates limited psychotherapy, patient education, and flexible scheduling when appropriate. She also gained outpatient psychiatric experience at Blue Umbrella Psychiatry in Davie, Florida, where she trained and practiced under the supervision of Dr. Eric Robbins beginning in January 2025.

Before entering psychiatric practice, Ms. Salanty established an extensive career in medical and surgical intensive care nursing. She served at AdventHealth Daytona, Holmes Regional Medical Center, Parrish Medical Center, and other healthcare facilities. At Wuesthoff Medical Center, she held the position of night shift assistant manager for a 12 bed medical intensive care unit, responding to emergency codes and trauma cases. Among her notable accomplishments was successfully resuscitating and stabilizing a critically ill patient while providing compassionate support to the patient's family.

Ms. Salanty earned her Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Wilkes University in 2025 and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Georgia Southern University. She is a Registered Nurse and Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Her professional affiliations include the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Psychiatric Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, and Florida Nurses Association. She also volunteers with the American Red Cross in Disaster Health Services and Disaster Mental Health Services, as well as with Give an Hour. In 2026, she was selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who.

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Ms. Salanty enjoys spending time with her husband of eight years, Dave Salanty, a 21 year U.S. Navy veteran, and their blended family of four children, Kyle and Aidon Tolbert and Macey and Gabriel Salanty. Their family also includes two grandchildren through her stepdaughter. Her interests include traveling, reading, knitting, dancing, and attending local band performances.
